Vollrads Castle The heart of the castle is a massive tower that stands in the middle of a square pond and can only be reached via a bridge. It was built before 1330. In 1684 Georg-Philipp von Greiffenclau had the actual manor house built, to which his son had additional buildings added over the years. Today the manor restaurant is located in the Kavaliershaus and the adjoining orangery. The winery with a centuries-old tradition since 1211 cultivates 80 hectares of vineyards that are exclusively planted with Riesling. In addition to the possibility of daily wine shopping in the vinotheque, the private rooms of the manor house offer an exceptional setting for events.

How you can use such a beautiful ensemble so poorly. Only the wine shop is open all the time - typical German winemakers. The food stall is only open on weekends. After all, since Corona there have been beer tent sets on the lawn and under trees. Aesthetically, the rubbish baskets, which form a wonderful, exciting contrast to the lighting. After all: suddenly even salad on offer. Why a little Riesling from the winemaker and self-service has to cost € 4 surely not only astonishes me. It is therefore more expensive than in the sublet "gourmet" restaurant. Well If you can.

A very nice and well-kept area with a beautiful vineyard, where you can sit in peace and enjoy your wine or the food. For the (very good) Riesling we had a regional "Spundekäs" (a kind of Obazda for wine with a milder aroma) that went very well with it. Was a little price-intensive, but maybe necessary due to Corona. You have a beautiful view of the tower and the courtyard of the old castle. In addition to serving, you can also buy wine in the shop. But then we held back here because we didn't find the prices so cheap. We sometimes pay a little more for a good wine, but if you have wineries all around that sell excellent wines for around half the price, it's not worth it. But that shouldn't detract from the overall impression. Of course there is also a registry office, as well as a restaurant. We didn't visit either ... Conclusion: a very nice place to end a day and relax a little with a very good glass of wine. It's worth it!

A beautiful historical site and quite good wines. Riesling could hardly be more classic. The events are sometimes too well attended for me. But it's just a crowd puller.

Beautiful Wedding venue

The food quality doesn't match the price. You probably pay for the place. The restaurant room is somehow uncosy, high white ceilings and white walls with some old paintings gives a feeling of cold and emptiness. Feels like museum. The overall place is too commercial and touristic.

Solid option for good food in wonderful setting. Service is not on the same level as the kitchen...

Historic castle and winery beautifully located in the vineyards with a large inner courtyard, outdoor dining and restaurant. The tower can be seen from afar. Free parking spaces are available in front of the castle. Very well located and suitable for resting on hikes.

Unfortunately, the restaurant was due to a closed society, but also the small garden is worth it! Wine & Tarte Flambée are highly recommended and can be enjoyed in the beautiful scenery.

Beautiful winery. Wine tasting was excellent and they gave us a good selection of different types and qualities. We ended up buying 2 of their nicest bottles as they were fantastic! We also had lunch at their restaurant which was very tasty and a great view.

Tasting store was great, so helpful, beautiful scenery and you can sit outdoors with some casual food/good wine. The restaurant was also fantastic
